The U.S. Chamber of Commerce gives this prestigious award to 60 companies across the United States that demonstrate “excellence in business history and commitment to customers, employees, and the community.” Winners will be honored at ACCESS 2006, America’s Small Business Summit, which will be held May 10–12 in Washington, D.C.

K4 was selected from among America’s millions of small businesses based on these criteria: Financial performance and business history, staff training and motivation, business plan or strategies and goals, customer service, and community involvement. Eligibility requirements include having fewer than 250 employees and gross revenues of less than $10 million in 2004.

“We’re very happy to receive this national honor,” said K4 Principal/President Jeffry C. Klump, AIA. “We strive to do the best possible job for each of our clients. When employees are working well together, it shows in an organization’s performance and growth, as well as in customer satisfaction and retention. On behalf of our management team, I’d like to congratulate all our employees who helped make this award possible, as well as thank the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce for nominating our firm.”

At the ACCESS 2006 event, businesses have the opportunity to learn about the policies and political events that impact their businesses and to discuss how they can make their businesses even more successful. Speakers at this year’s event include: Former U.S. Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich; FedEx Chairman, President, and CEO Frederick W. Smith; NBC Chief White House Correspondent David Gregory; and SBA Administrator Hector V. Barreto, Jr.

The Chamber will now select seven finalists—one from each of seven regions—from the group of 60 winners. Then, one exceptional small business owner will be honored for his or her “tireless work and embodiment of the spirit of enterprise.”
