QUOTE: "Your knowledge and expertise was not only evident in regards to building design, but also took into account the matters of liturgical and ecclesial needs. Your capturing of these religious matters for our church renovation was especially impressive to me as pastor." – R.W. – Mary, Queen of Heaven Church
CHALLENGE: The Parish school and church were in poor repair, including severe roof issues. Additionally, the church facility was in desperate need of refurbishment to better accommodate the function of the religious services, as well as the need to provide a large enough space to better facilitate the gatherings before and after Mass.
SOLUTION: K4 prepared a feasibility study including design analysis of structures, maintenance, programming, ecclessiastical issues, and funding. The resultant information suggested the renovation of the facility be accomplished in three general phases. In the first phase, K4 recommended remodeling the school during the summer; the design included a new principal’s office, new façade, and several key updates. In the second phase, K4 designed a new church entrance vestibule to better welcome parishioners; redesigned the confessional, sacristy, and sanctuary; and created a choir area and new restroom. Throughout construction, the parish was able to use at least half of the sanctuary for services. In the Final phase, we freed up space to create a new daycare. Other area parishes liked the timely and cost-effective results, which generated additional work for K4.
